2 Samuel 12:26-31
After the birth of Solomon, Joab, the commander of Israel’s armies went and took the water supply of the city of Rabbah. Rabbah was the capital city of the people of Ammon (the Ammonites). Joab sent word to David to bring the rest of the army and help him defeat the Ammonites. David came and led his people to a great victory. The crown of the Ammonite king was place on David’s head and much plunder was collected. All of the Ammonite cities were conquered and the Ammonite people were put to work serving the Israelites.
David had returned to leading his people the right way. Back when he left all the leading to Joab, he ended up getting selfish and taking something that didn’t belong to him (Bathsheba). Now David has returned to doing what he should and his people are successful in their battles. We need to keep our eyes on what God has called us to do, and following His laws. It keeps us out of a whole lot of trouble!
Read a copy of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). Talk about how these rules save us from trouble!
