2 Samuel 7:18-29
When Nathan, the prophet, came to tell David he had made a mistake, David had two choices. David could be mad that God didn’t want him to go ahead with his plan to build a temple or he could focus on the good prophesy Nathan brought him. Which do you think David chose? David chose to focus on the promise God revealed to make his descendants great. David went and spent time with the Lord and worshipped and praised God with a grateful heart. David spent time thanking God for His blessings.
But what would you have done? It is often very easy to get so caught up in the one thing we are told we can’t do that we forget all the other blessings around us. We want to think we would take disappointment like David but it isn’t always easy. The next time you are tempted to be upset about being told no, stop and think about all the things you do have. Maybe, like David, you will end up praising instead of whining!!
Make a list of things you are not allowed to do or have. For each item list 2 things you have or can do. Focus on the good and the bad won’t seem so important!
