1 Samuel 24
Once Saul drove back the Philistines, he began hunting David again. Saul discovered that David was now in the Wilderness of En Gedi. Saul’s army went into this area, which was filled with caves, to find David. On one particular day, King Saul took a potty break in one of the caves. What he didn’t know was that David and his men were hiding in that very cave!! David’s men told him to kill Saul. Instead, David cut the corner from Saul’s coat. Even though his men urged him to kill Saul, David would not hurt God’s chosen leader.
After Saul left the cave, David stepped out and addressed the men outside. He showed King Saul the piece of his coat and told Saul that he could have killed him but David would not. Saul realized that he was chasing David for bad reasons and returned home.
David shows us that just because someone is mean to us doesn’t mean we can be mean back. David chose to do right, even when Saul was doing wrong. We need to do this as well!!
