When Joshua divided the land, Ephraim and Manasseh, the 2 sons of Joseph, were treated as separate tribes. Since the tribe of Levi was not given a specific area this made 12 tribal areas. The Lord had greatly blessed the sons of Joseph and each one had a population similar to their uncles’ tribes. The Lord showed his favor for Joseph by giving his descendants 2 shares in the land.
But the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh complained that their land was too small. Joshua told them that they had plenty of land, they just had to clear some of it and remove the inhabitants of another part. But the tribes thought that was too difficult. They thought the Canaanites were too strong and the land too small. But Joshua told them that they could do it! Basically he was reminding them that God was on their side so they could do anything God wanted them to do. It is very easy to look at a problem and think it is impossible to fix. But we need to remember to look at it from God’s point of view. Nothing is impossible for Him!! So remember, take that big scary problem to God and He will show you the way!
Give your child a difficult task to do: (Clean their whole room, clean out a closet, work a 500 piece puzzle, etc.) Talk to them about how something that big can be scary, and help them break it down into steps. Work through it together. Remind them that God has a plan to get them through any problem, no matter how big!!
