Topic: God’s Plan
After God spoke the 10 commandments to Moses and Aaron and the people promised to obey, God called Moses, Aaron, 2 priest and the 10 appointed leaders up onto the mountain to spend some time with Him. (Some people believe this was to show the people that God approved of these leaders, so they should follow them). After a while they came down and God called Moses to come back on the mountain so God could give him the laws carved on stone and other instructions. Moses spent 40 days on the mountain!!
So what did God tell Moses on the mountain? Most of what is recorded in the Bible is about the tabernacle. The tabernacle was like a traveling church. Since the people were traveling their church had to go too! God gave Moses very specific details. He told exactly what things were to look like and exactly what size. For example, they were supposed to build an altar (chapter 27) that was 3 cubits (about 4 ½ feet) high and a square that was 5 cubits long and 5 wide. It was to be made out of acacia wood with a horn on each corner and then covered with bronze. He then describes the grating and utensils, even the rings for poles to carry it with! No detail was left out.
But why is that important? If God gave Moses such detailed plans for a church, a place, how much more care and though has He put into your life? You are His child! He cares more for you than any place! I know that God is a God of details and He has a perfect, day by day, plan for your life. Nothing that happens surprises God! We may sometimes choose to do something outside of that plan, and that may bring problems, but God can rewrite His plan in an instant to work things out for good in the end. So you can rest assured that God has a plan and you just need to follow along and it will be beautiful, just like the tabernacle!!
Chose a passage from Exodus 26:1-28:43 and see if you can draw or build what it should look like together. Take note of the great detail provided!!
