Have you ever heard the expression “if your friend was jumping off a bridge, would you jump too?” This is exactly what Adam did! After Eve ate the fruit she brought some to Adam and he ate also. Eve choose to sin so he decided “if she’s doing it, it must be okay for me too!” This is a huge lie that Satan likes to tempt us with.
Because we are made in the image of God, we have the ability to think about what we should do. We are also each responsible for our choices. In Genesis 3:17, God tells Adam that because he listened to Eve instead of doing what he knew was right, he will pay a price too. Following along with the crowd is no excuse. You are responsible for your actions and if you do something wrong, there will be consequences. Think for yourself and make your own choices!!
Activity: Ask your kids some things that would be silly to follow along with (like jumping off a bridge) and then get into harder questions about peer pressure. Give your kids a chance to discuss peer pressure and how hard it is not to follow the crowd!
